Let Customers Ask Claude About Your Docs
Every public docs site on a paid plan is also a read-only connection for Claude — no setup, no sign-in for readers.
Why it helps
Readers often have one specific question and don’t want to browse a table of contents to find the answer. With Claude connected to your docs, they can just ask: Claude searches your published pages, answers in plain language, and links back to the exact page for the full context. Self-service like this can mean fewer repeat questions landing in your support inbox, without you writing a single FAQ entry for it.
How it works
Your docs site already runs a read-only Model Context Protocol (MCP) endpoint at its own address plus /mcp. When a reader points their Claude at it, Claude can list your site’s spaces, read the table of contents, search across pages, and read full pages — then it answers with a link back to the exact page on your site.
Setup for site owners
There’s nothing to turn on. Every public docs site on the Pro, Enterprise and Compliance plans — and during your 14-day Pro trial — already has this. Find the address in a space’s settings, or copy it straight from the Add to Claude button in your site’s header, where readers will find it too. If you’d rather keep a specific space out of it, open that space’s settings and switch it off under Claude; it’s on by default for public spaces.

No OpenDocs account and no sign-in required either way.
What’s shared
Only what’s already public: published pages in spaces you’ve made public, read-only. Drafts, unlisted spaces and private spaces are never part of it, no matter how a reader asks.

Do I need to do anything to turn this on?
No. It's included automatically on every public docs site on the Pro, Enterprise and Compliance plans, and during your 14-day Pro trial. It's off on the Free plan.
Can I turn it off for a specific space?
Yes. Each space has its own switch: open the space's settings and look for the Claude section to turn the connector off for just that space. It's on by default for public spaces.
Does this expose drafts or private spaces?
No. Only published pages in public spaces are shared, and only read-only. Drafts, unlisted spaces and private spaces are never shared.
Do my readers need an OpenDocs account to use this?
No. There's no sign-in. Readers add your site's address to their own Claude - in claude.ai, Claude Desktop or Claude Code - and start asking.
