Build a Help Center with Claude in 10 Minutes
From a blank account to a structured help center with real articles, using Claude to do the heavy lifting.
Six steps, about ten minutes
- Sign up. Create a free OpenDocs account. Every account starts with a 14-day Pro trial, no card required — after 14 days you continue free on 1 space, or upgrade.
- Connect Claude. In claude.ai or Claude Desktop, go to Settings > Connectors, find OpenDocs in Claude’s connector directory, and choose Connect. Free plan included.
- Generate the structure. Ask Claude: “Create a Help Center space with sections for Getting Started, Account & Billing, and Troubleshooting.”
- Generate the first articles. Ask Claude: “Write a getting-started article for [product] and publish it under Getting Started,” then “draft three troubleshooting articles for our most common support tickets: [list them].”
- Publish. Ask Claude to publish the space, or open it in OpenDocs and publish it yourself. Every page it wrote is already saved in page history for review.
- Connect a custom domain (optional, Pro). From the space’s settings, point a domain like
help.yourcompany.comat your help center so it lives on your own brand.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need any technical setup to build a help center this way?
No. Signing up, connecting Claude, and publishing all happen through settings screens and chat prompts. Connecting a custom domain is the only step with a technical piece, pointing a DNS record at OpenDocs, and it is optional.
Can I edit what Claude writes before it goes live?
Yes. Ask Claude to leave a page unpublished, or open it in the OpenDocs editor and edit it directly. Every version is saved in page history either way.
Do I need a paid plan to publish a help center?
You can publish on the Free plan: 1 space, 1 member, with a Powered by OpenDocs badge. A custom domain for your help center requires the Pro plan.
What if my first draft of the structure isn't right?
Ask Claude to move, rename, or reorder sections and articles, or to add a section you're missing. The page tree is easy to reshape after the fact, either directly in OpenDocs or by asking Claude.
